Since The Resistance part of the story was the weaker plot of the film, I would have shifted the focus from that to the stronger plots of Luke training Rey and Rey and KyloвЂ™s Force Bond.

In my opinion, the movie was trying to do too much, focusing on three stories as opposed to maybe two tops.

However, I have always said since leaving the theater that The Last Jedi should have focused on Luke training Rey (which should have been expanded upon in the movie) and the Force Bond between Rey and Kylo with small glimpses at The Resistance. There were things I still liked, but I noticed more flaws than I did the first time (which, to be fair, can happen with anything you watch multiple times). However, I watched it a second time recently, curious if my opinion would hold up, and I became more critical of the film. I enjoyed the film, but also recognized that it had problems and could have been better. Poe Dameron, suspicious of this plan (or possible lack thereof), sends Finn and Rose Tico, a maintenance worker, to find a codebreaker to deactivate the First OrderвЂ™s tracking device so the fleet can get away.ДЇirst thingвЂ™s first: did I love or hate The Last Jedi? Perhaps this is the Trekkie in me and the levelheadedness of characters like Spock, Jadzia Dax, or Captain Picard, but I went into The Last Jedi with an open mind and managed to leave the theater somewhere in between.

Leia is in a coma after a stroll around the shipвЂ¦ the outside of the shipвЂ¦ so Vice Admiral Holdo is in command of The Resistance Fleet with a mysterious plan in mind. Meanwhile The Resistance Fleet is running from The First Order (who can track them through hyperspace) and theyвЂ™re quickly running out of fuel (in the immortal words of Barf from Spaceballs: вЂњI told you we shouldвЂ™ve put more than five bucks worth in!вЂќ). Strangely enough, Rey also discovers that she has an unexplained Force Bond with the brooding Kylo Ren after he was bested by a girl who never held a lightsaber before. But in the year of the First OrderвЂ™s war, Luke is the last best hope for victory for The Resistance. However, Luke is done training the Jedi, believing that it is time for the Jedi to end (strangely enough, like his father someвЂ¦ ohвЂ¦ 66 years ago? It was a tall Order then too). Taking place after A New HopeвЂ¦ I mean, The Force AwakensвЂ¦ The Last Jedi finds Force user and Jedi hopeful Rey handing Luke Skywalker in self-imposed exile his lightsaber. Some liked the new approach the film brought to the Star Wars universe, but if something is new does that make it better? Others hated that many of the characters on screen behaved out of character than what we have seen in the past, but are the characters we see on screen really the same characters from forty years ago? Or is the truth somewhere in the middle? Buckle up, raise shields, get on the gun turrets, prepare to jump to hyperspeed: this is going to be a bumpy ride. Debates raged across social media more than the Galactic Senate over some trade routes. Twitter Wars rose and YouTube channels to meet them. Most people when they went to see it in theaters either loved it or hated it: hardly anyone was in the middle. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the film that arguably fractured the Star Wars fanbase. This is just my opinion of the film after watching it a second time.ДЄlso a Disclaimer: This review is much longer than my other, already long reviews. I have watched it twice, and while I enjoyed it the first time through, the second time I became more critical of it.
